Montréal, September 8, 2008 – Members of a group of ten from the Côte-Nord region each pocketed a share of $22,605,130 in the August 6 Lotto 6/49 drawing, whose jackpot totalled $45,145,712. The group, made up of customers of a single convenience store, played a six-number combination ticket and were astonished when they learned that they held one of the two winning tickets in the draw. Group member Pauline Dupéré (front row in the centre of the photo) was the first to learn the happy news. In short order, she called the convenience store, and the clerk immediately contacted the nine other winners.
Some of the lucky winners will be able to fully enjoy the coming years since they are already retired. As for André Lejeune (right) and Réal Rouleau (back row, second from the left,) they are about to have the pleasure of saying, "Bye-bye boss!" When it came time to claim their cheque, the winners all mentioned that they also intended to spoil their families.
The lucky ticket was sold at Dépanneur de la 2, 276 Avenue Brochu, in Sept-Îles. The retailer received a commission of $226,051, equivalent to 1% of the win.
